Your hands can change a life

Every meaningful change begins with someone who decides to show up. At Room At The Inn, that someone is you.

Why Your Help Matters

The quiet heroes who make hope visible

Volunteers bring warmth, care, and steady hands to mothers and children working hard to build a new beginning. You are the heartbeat of this mission, and the reason so many families find their footing again.

All across North Carolina, women find themselves facing pregnancy and homelessness at the same time. They want to create a safe, healthy life for their children, and they need people willing to walk beside them.

A Place to Serve

There’s a place for every gift

Through our Volunteer Center in Kernersville, community members find ways to turn compassion into action. Some come to teach, some to listen, some to care for children while a mother studies.

Teaching or Tutoring

Help mothers learn skills that lead to stability and independence.

Childcare

Care for little ones while moms attend classes or training.

Support Roles

Assist with office work, maintenance projects, or event preparation.

Community Events

Join the teams that make our annual banquet and other gatherings possible.

How to Begin

You don’t have to be an expert, just willing to care

Every volunteer starts with a short introduction to who we are and the families we serve. Certain roles like childcare may require background checks or brief training, and our team walks with you through every step.

Visit our Volunteer Center website to explore opportunities and complete a volunteer interest form. You’ll find clear directions, simple forms, and a team ready to help you find the right fit.

Background checks. Roles that involve working directly with children and clients require a background check and a short training session. Our staff walks you through it, step by step.

What Happens When You Serve

A mother finds the courage to keep going. A child feels safe enough to laugh.

Your willingness to serve reminds every woman we meet that she isn’t alone, and that hope still has a home.

Ready to Begin

A community grows stronger every time someone decides to show up.
