Where Hope
Is Born
When life feels uncertain, we open the door to safety, faith, and a fresh start for single mothers and their children across North Carolina.
Walking beside single mothers for more than 30 years
Welcome to Room At The Inn
More than shelter. A place to begin again.
For more than 30 years, Room At The Inn has opened its doors to women facing homelessness, poverty, and crisis pregnancies. Guided by faith and compassion, we provide safe housing, education, and the steady support a mother needs to build a future for herself and her child.
Our mission is simple: to walk beside every mother and child on their journey from crisis to confidence, from fear to faith, from homelessness to home.
What We Do
Walking beside mothers, every step of the way

Safe Housing
The licensed Nussbaum Maternity Shelter offers safe rest, nutritious meals, and a team who walks beside every mother.

Education & Job Training
With our Volunteer Center, mothers gain life skills, parenting support, and accredited job training that leads to lasting independence.

Ongoing Care
Our care continues after a mother leaves. Childcare help and mentoring keep families strong and self-sufficient.
Every woman’s story is unique, but each begins the same way—with a door that opens when she needs it most.
Guided by Faith
We believe every life has purpose and every mother has value.
Guided by faith, we serve with open hearts, open hands, and the promise that no one walks this road alone.

Stories of Hope
Courage, one family at a time
Each mother who walks through our doors carries her own story of courage. Together, these stories remind us that faith and compassion can change lives one family at a time.
It takes a lot of humility to accept help. And if we call to God for help and answers, He gives them through His people. Room At The Inn is full of people who are straight from God, just a push in the right direction.
It was kind of scary at first because I was alone and pregnant. I didn’t know where my life was going. But once I got in and started getting to know the girls there, it was a relief to be around other women in the same position.
After I had my daughter, I was able to move next door to Amy’s house and begin college. I could use the daycare and know that my child was taken care of and that they would help me through the whole process.
Just knowing there’s a program willing to help you, love you, and accept you is the best thing ever.
The last day I was at my friend’s house, I got into my car and said, Lord, help me. I needed Him in that moment because I didn’t know what I was going to do.
There were people who helped me get to this point, and I’m forever grateful. That one little cry out to Him changed my life.
If you’re at a hard place in your life and you’re able to get into Room At The Inn, go. If you have dreams of college and going to school, this is perfect. It will help you so much.
